Becoming a mother is what most women dream of, so when I fell pregnant, it felt like a dream come true. I was finally going to have a little bundle of joy who’ll grow up to call me “mommy.”
Unfortunately, the delivery didn’t go as smooth as I prayed for. I endured severe complications and felt like my world had turned upside down. Little did I know, however, that it would only be the tip of the iceberg of what followed.
I learned I was carrying twin boys, and up until week 38 of my pregnancy, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. The doctors assured me my pregnancy was a healthy one and that there were not going to be any issues with neither me nor the babies.
I started my maternity leave from my graphic designer job some weeks before my due date and stayed home with my husband, Ryan, who appeared to be completely ready to be the best dad out there.
Ryan set up the cribs, massaged my feet, and all I could hear from family and friends was how lucky I was to be married to him. I guess I was. Or maybe not.
