Seeing the Land Differently
The discovery changed the way Thomas viewed his farm.
For years, he had thought about the land in practical terms:
- Soil conditions
- Rainfall
- Drainage
- Crop yields
- Harvest schedules
Of course, he knew wildlife existed around him.
He had seen deer tracks in the mud.
Birds feeding along fence lines.
Snakes slipping through ditches.
Turtles crossing gravel roads.
But he had never considered that a temporary rain puddle in the middle of a soybean field could become part of a frog’s life cycle.
Yet there it was.
Hidden in plain sight.
