My husband, Brandon Mercer, drove in complete silence for nearly twenty minutes after we left the corporate gala, but the tension inside the truck felt louder than any argument we had ever had.
When he slammed the vehicle into our driveway, the tires sprayed muddy water across the lawn.
I reached for the door handle.
His hand shot across the console and clamped around my wrist.
“You enjoyed that tonight, didn’t you?” he snapped.
